The FM-1 is an F-4 Wildcat aircraft manufactured by General Motors under Grumman's license. The FM-1 aircraft was identical to the Grumman F4-F4 Wildcat. It had the ability to fold its wings back, which allowed it to be hidden in aircraft carrier hangars. It also had stronger armor. The FM-1 differed from the F4F4 only in that it was armed with four 12.7mm machine guns instead of six. The engine in both aircraft (Pratt-Whitney R-1830-86 Twin Wasp, 1217KM) was the same.
