Soviet BT tanks were based on design of American engineer J. Walter Christie. They were capable of moving both on tracks and on wheels. BT-5 was produced during mid-1930s. It was exceptionally fast, adequately armored and armed with a 45-mm gun. However, by 1941 the very concept of such tanks was obsolete and both armor and armament of the tank were insufficient.
