In 1941 Soviet reconnaissance troops were well-equipped, but lacked any combat experience and often failed to acquire important information in time. It has lead to several German surprise attacks with severe consequences. However, by 1942 Soviet reconnaissance troops became more proficient and the number of unpleasant surprises to Soviet command dramatically decreased. A year later, the reconnaissance troops have reached the peak of their efficiency. By that time Germans had almost no chance to surprise Soviet troops.
